Bill On A PodiumBill has raced historic cars at home and abroad sine 1982 with many wins and podium places.  We have rebuilt various historic race cars.  Most recently we have built an MGB from a shell which spent most of it's life in California. This car has an excellent track record.  It has raced in the Spa 6 hours endurance in Belgium for the last 5 years with 100% finish rate which clearly shows our race preparation ability, anyone who knows this event will realise that even a finish is an excellent result. We are currently building another MGB from an even earlier shell and hope to have that ready for this years Spa 6 hours event.

Last year we re-built the ex Jack Surtess Cooper T53 GP car which had been very badly damaged at the Goodwood Revival in 2006.  First time out after the re-build was at Dijon in France last June where Bill finished second with the car not having turned a wheel in anger before qualifying. He then went on to race at Brands Hatch, Spa and the Goodwood Revival.

SamMichelle (Bills wife) also holds a race licence and has raced our MGB in the Equipe GTS series but this year she has decided to take a back seat as we have a new racing licence holder in the family, Sam (their 10 year old son).  He has raced karts since 8 years old and this year he has entered the Super One British cadet kart championship.  So it is going to be a very busy year for us all.  He is now under the guidance of Ashley Todd, AMT racing and since going with Ashley his results have improved dramatically.  Last time out at our local track Rowrah we were being asked 'what has happened to Sam!!'  We wish him good luck for Super One, the first round is at PF international, Lincoln in March!!

We have vast experience of Classic cars from 1925-1965 especially MGB's and will be happy to discuss any work/improvements you may need.

The Silverstone Britcar 24 Hour Race

The Brunswick Automotive built BMW E46 belonging to Mark Griffiths entered the 6th running of the Britcar 24 hour race 29th Sept - 1st Oct 2011.

The car entered the very competitive class 4 of the race but with the car being built for the VLN series in Germany (production spec with very limited modifications from standard) it would be a tough ask to get a podium finish let alone a class victory, but victorious they were.

The driver line up of Mark Griffiths, Willie Green, David Forsbrey and Bill Kirkpatrick started day qualifying with only Mark having driven the car
before so much of the session was taken up with the drivers learning the car and becoming familiar with the set up. They did manage to qualify the car in a very creditable 7th of 20 cars in their class and 39th overall. Night qualifying was just a case of getting all 4 drivers qualified and this they did without any mishaps.

On a gloriously hot and sunny autumn afternoon the race got underway with Mark Griffiths taking the first stint and was soon moving through the field.  This set the pattern for the whole of the 24 hour race with Willie, David and Bill also pushing the production car hard and continuing to move through the field.

By the 14 hour point the Brunswick Automotive car had moved into the lead of Class 4 and was facing a tough battle with the Mardi Gras Honda.

Slick work by the well drilled pit crew enabled re-fuelling, tyre and driver changes to take place in the least amount of time to help increase their lead over their main rivals.

The rest of the race was uneventful and by the end of the race the BMW had increased its class lead to 6 laps and up to a very creditable 7th place overall.
